Thanks for a great 2014 CHT Exchange

A special thank you to all who attended, volunteered and participated in the 2014 CHT Exchange this past Thursday and Friday (April 24-25) at the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) in Washington, DC. The bi-annual event provided an opportunity for representatives from all cultural heritage tourism sectors – both public and private – to discuss, deliberate and decide on priorities for advancement in the next two years.

Highlights included a series of high-level presentations about the National Travel & Tourism Strategy including DCO’s Ken Hyatt and Brand USA’s Chris Thompson, thoughtful discussions about issues and opportunities to advance cultural heritage tourism in rural areas and urban cities, dynamic trends report by Airbnb’s Molly Turner, informative fundraising ideas offered by Tim McClimon from the American Express Foundation and officials from NEA/NEH/IMLS, and wonderful trolley ride down Pennsylvania Avenue to reception at Florida House on Capitol Hill. The 2014 CHT Exchange concluded with an inspiring and entertaining presentation from Americans for the Arts’ Bob Lynch.

A full report will be posted here in the next month, along with photos and other outcomes from the 2014 CHT Exchange.
